IATA announces the arrival of the first passengers using the IATA Travel Pass app at London Heathrow Airport. A Singapore Airlines flight was in charge of transporting travelers who used the app successfully to store and manage their health documentation.
“The successful implementation of the IATA Travel Pass in this test with Singapore Airlines passengers shows that the technology can help travelers and governments to manage travel health credentials in a safe, comfortable, and efficient way,” says Alexandre de Juniac, CEO of IATA.
This first step on an international flight demonstrates that the Travel Pass is safe, and largely guarantees the health safety of passengers. This allows compliance with biosafety regulations and also avoids long queues and accumulation of people at airports.
Finally, it is a demonstration that some countries and governments are in the capacity to keep the digital record, to comply with the identification requirements of the passengers in a secure way.
“The successful implementation of the IATA Travel Pass reflects Singapore Airlines goal to use secure digital solutions to verify health credentials, and support a safe and seamless travel experience for our customers,” said JoAnn Tan who serves as Senior Vice President at Marketing Planning functions of Singapore Airlines.
