Spaceport City, the airport of the future proposed by the Space Port Japan Association (SPJ) to encourage space tourism in Tokyo.
This innovative and futuristic space airport will have four floors and characteristics very similar to those of a conventional airport, but will have docking parts for rockets and other spacecraft.
The Spaceport City is expected to begin operations in about 10 years, becoming Asia’s first space airport.
It will have upper levels from where passengers can observe the takeoff of the ships; In addition, the airport will have a layer of solar panels on the primary structure, which will allow the installation of outdoor gardens and farmland on a different scale.
The goal of the Spaceport City is to take day trips into space, taking passengers about 80 kilometers away from Earth, with trips to and from orbit.
Those wishing to travel must arrive at Spaceport City three days before for physical and training checks. Airport staff will pick you up on the day of departure in an exclusive limousine that will take you aboard the plane, while your friends and family enjoy live footage in the spaceport lounge.
Undoubtedly, technological advances will soon lead us to know what lies beyond our planet. Would you dare to travel to space?
