Copa Airlines and the Panamanian government will work for hand in hand with the International Air Transport Association (IATA) to carry out the first tests of the Travel Pass in America starting in March.
With the introduction of the Travel Pass, Copa Airlines passengers will be able to create their “digital passport” through a mobile application. They can easily and securely manage their trips, complying with the health requirements of the different countries.
“An international standard solution for digital health passports such as the IATA Travel Pass is the key to the safe restart of the travel and tourism industry. Which is a major contributor to the economy of Panama and Latin America”, stated Dan Gunn, Senior Vice President of Copa Operations.
The IATA Travel Pass will also include a registry of tests and vaccination centers. Also, it will allow these laboratories and authorized testing centers to safely send the results and vaccination certificates to passengers.
The global registry, managed by IATA, will allow a secure flow of the necessary information between all interested parties.
“This is an important step in enabling international travel during the pandemic, giving people confidence that they are meeting all COVID-19 entry requirements by governments”, said Nick Careen, Senior Vice President, Airports, Passengers, Cargo and Security of IATA.
