The Panamanian airline Copa Airlines, presented the hygiene and biosafety disinfection protocols that it has implemented to offer a safe environment to passengers at each stage of their travels.
The measures were developed by a committee specialized in biosecurity, with the intention of guaranteeing the best practices in response to the pandemic, starting from home, to the destination.
“We know that COVID-19 changed the way we travel and the expectations of our passengers. For this reason, today more than ever, at Copa Airlines we remain committed to your well-being and we have taken all the necessary measures to guarantee the greatest safety on your next trip with us, because your safety is our main priority ”, expressed Diana Mizrachi, Senior Director Customer Experience at Copa Airlines.
The airline detailed these biosecurity measures through a video, indicating that these measures have been successfully tested in more than 130 humanitarian operations carried out in recent months, and will be implemented in the next flights in August.
In the statement, Copa Airlines recommends that its passengers carry out web check in 24 hours before traveling, through the mobile application or on copa.com, to streamline the registration process and limit contact between passengers and collaborators, and consult the requirements established by the Airline and the health and immigration authorities of Panama and the country of destination. In addition, you request to arrive at the airport of origin at least three hours before your flight, due to new security controls.
The measures include a healthy and safe cabin environment, through high-efficiency filters (HEPA for its acronym in English) that purify up to 99.97% of virus and bacteria particles, similar to an operating room.
An air recirculation system in the cabin renews the air every 2 to 3 minutes, with a vertical displacement that prevents it from being shared with passengers from the sides and front.
In addition, specialized teams from the airline are responsible for the thorough hygiene and disinfection of the interior of the aircraft, particularly at points of high contact, using products with a high rate of effectiveness recommended by the authorities.
Also a new boarding process that allows each passenger to put their boarding pass into a scanning device. And for physical distancing, the airline detailed that protective acrylics have been installed in the counters of airports where they operate, and signs in the waiting line so that passengers maintain the physical distance established by the health authorities.
