Boom Supersonic has completed the construction of its state-of-the-art factory in Greensboro, North Carolina, dedicated to producing supersonic passenger aircraft. Located at the Piedmont Triad International Airport, this facility has the capacity to manufacture up to 33 Overture aircraft per year, with plans to expand its production capacity through an additional assembly line that would double this figure. Additionally, the factory will include a delivery center to manage the distribution of the aircraft.

The completion of this plant in Greensboro comes shortly after the successful maiden flight of Boom’s demonstration aircraft, the XB-1, conducted in Mojave, California. In the coming months, Boom is expected to begin installing equipment in the new factory, starting with an advanced testing unit that will be used to develop manufacturing processes and prepare for the production of Overture aircraft.
Based in Colorado, Boom Supersonic could receive over $120 million in local and state incentives, contingent upon meeting its job creation goals: 1,750 new positions by 2030 and 2,400 by 2032. The company plans to invest more than $500 million in its Greensboro facilities, solidifying its commitment to growth and innovation in the aerospace industry.

Boom Supersonic aims to revive supersonic air travel, more than two decades after the retirement of the Concorde in 2003. Unlike the Concorde, Boom anticipates the Overture being accessible “to the masses,” significantly reducing travel times.
