American Airlines has announced that it will offer free Wi-Fi on more than 2 million flights annually starting January 2026, a service exclusively available to AAdvantage loyalty program members. Sponsored by AT&T, this initiative aims to enhance passenger experience by keeping them connected in-flight, whether for communication, work, social media enjoyment, or streaming content from their favorite services.

Free Wi-Fi will be available on all American Airlines aircraft equipped with high-speed satellite connectivity from Viasat and Intelsat, covering approximately 90% of its fleet. In preparation for this rollout, the airline conducted trials of free Wi-Fi on selected routes, surpassing performance expectations and demonstrating the reliability and quality of the service. Additionally, American is progressing in equipping over 500 regional aircraft with high-speed Wi-Fi, aiming to complete this installation by late 2025, just ahead of the free service launch.
